About East Brisbane Local

A suburb-specific directory for inner east Brisbane, built to connect local residents with the trades and professionals who actually service their area.

Our Purpose

East Brisbane Local is an online business directory covering the inner east Brisbane suburb cluster: East Brisbane, Bulimba, Hawthorne, Morningside, Norman Park, Kangaroo Point and Balmoral. It lists local tradespeople and professional services businesses so residents can find them easily, and so local businesses can be found by people searching in their suburb.

The directory is built around the specific search terms people in the inner east use, not broad Brisbane-wide keywords that send you to businesses in Chermside or Capalaba when you need someone in Morningside. You can browse by suburb or start with a trade or service category.

Why We Built It

Most directories are built to serve the whole of Brisbane, or Queensland, or Australia. That breadth is a weakness. They cannot go deep on any one area, so the suburb-level searches that matter most to local residents are rarely served well.

East Brisbane Local is built from the opposite direction. We cover one geography and we cover it properly. Every suburb has its own section. Every trade and profession has its own category. Every page is built around the searches that people in the inner east actually make.

We do not take a cut of anyone’s jobs and we do not charge per lead. We list local businesses so local people can find them. That is the whole model, and listing is free.

Behind the directory

Who Runs This Directory

East Brisbane Local is a project by HEW Digital, a Brisbane web design and SEO agency. HEW Digital works with small businesses across the inner east and the wider city, building websites and local SEO strategies for tradespeople and professional services operators.

The directory was built for two reasons. The first is to serve the East Brisbane community with something genuinely useful. The second is to demonstrate what a properly built local directory looks like, as opposed to a thin national platform with a suburb page bolted on as an afterthought.
