Bellamy's Gardens & Construction serves Brisbane and surrounds, as well as the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and northern New South Wales. They handle the whole job in house, from the first site visit and design documentation through construction, planting and ongoing maintenance, using their own crews rather than labour hire or subcontracted teams.
About the business
Bellamy's was founded by brothers Justice and Blaze Bellamy, who grew up on a farm in northern Tasmania before basing themselves in Brisbane. The team now runs at around ten people across design, construction and maintenance, working out of a commercial office in Yeronga, with project costing, invoicing, operations and scheduling all handled in house.
Who you work with
Justice Bellamy, Co-founder and Landscape Architect
Justice co-founded Bellamy's Gardens after training as a landscape architect in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, where he completed his bachelor's degree. Many years of residential and commercial project work have followed, and he is now based in Brisbane. Materials, texture and plant selection are where his attention tends to go on a job. One of his show gardens took bronze at the national New Zealand Flower & Garden Show in 2017.
Blaze Bellamy, Co-founder, Director, Landscape Designer and Structural Landscaper
Blaze is the other co-founder and sets the design direction on every project. He studied a Bachelor of Industrial Design at RMIT University, finishing with First Class Honours, and his honours research dealt with sustainable manufacturing systems for macro-algae cultivation. That grounding in sustainable systems and material science shapes how he specifies plants and surfaces, and how he judges whether a garden will still be holding up years after handover. Prototyping and fabrication sit behind it as well, which is why a Bellamy's garden tends to be resolved like a piece of engineering rather than drawn as a picture alone. Blaze prides himself on quality and stays accountable for every job the business delivers, so design conversations happen directly with the owner.
Curtis Whittington, Construction and Technical Lead
Curtis runs the construction side. He has more than fifteen years' experience on the tools across New Zealand and Queensland, holds a Landscape Construction Level 3 qualification, and has led crews through complex residential builds taking in structural earthworks, engineered retaining, drainage systems, concrete work and the rest of the landscape construction trade. He has also owned and run a business of his own, handling suppliers, staff, production, compliance and client relationships, so quoting realistically and holding a timeline are familiar ground. His job on site is to see that what was drawn in the design is what actually gets built.
Joseph Kelly, Designer and Landscape Technician
Joseph holds a Bachelor of Industrial Design with Honours from RMIT University, specialising in industrial and product design. He produces the full construction drawings, detailed design documentation and photorealistic renders, so clients can see what a garden will look like before anything is built. He also shoots the photography across completed Bellamy's projects.

How they work
The process runs through seven stages: an initial client meeting to understand the brief, concept, design, finalised plans and presentation, the build itself, installation and final touches, then ongoing maintenance and support. Materials, crews and timelines are locked in before work starts on site, and project costing and invoicing are handled in house, so clients can see where the money is going at each stage. Maintenance crews operate separately to the construction crews, which means a maintenance visit does not wait on a build finishing.
Why Brisbane homeowners use them
Bellamy's keeps the technical work with its own team rather than subcontracting it out. Where specialist trades are involved, a Bellamy's crew member stays on site alongside them for the duration, so the same people are across the job from quote through to final walkthrough. Materials and methods are chosen for how they perform over five years rather than how they photograph on day one, which shows in the base preparation, drainage and edge detailing that sits under the finished surface.
Inner east Brisbane blocks often come with slope, older retaining and drainage that was never properly engineered, particularly through the Queenslander streets of Norman Park and Morningside. A good share of Bellamy's construction work is exactly that: stripping a site back, reshaping levels, installing engineered retaining and subsurface drainage, then rebuilding the garden over a base that holds its form.
